On 15 September 2021 the Health Care Funding Directorate/Entitlement Unit was represented by Director Ms Michelle Galea in a public discussion entitled Unjoni Ewropea tas-Saħħa about the future of healthcare in the European Union. The event, organised by Servizzi Ewropej f’Malta (SEM) and Europe Direct Valletta, was the first in a series wherein a number of topics are being discussed for The Conference on the Future of Europe. Amongst other topics, the digitalisation of healthcare systems as well as the strengthening of cross-border healthcare benefits featured in the discussion.

On 27 September 2021 Mr Samuel Scicluna, Senior Policy Officer at the Health Care Funding Directorate, attended this year’s third Network of Networks meeting, also organised by SEM and Europe Direct Valletta. The meeting, attended by representatives of various EU information/service providers and national contact points, provided a forum to share experiences on providing information and services to the public as well as to discuss enhanced collaboration when providing EU related services in Malta. The Entitlement Unit endeavours to invest in technologically innovative ways of providing its services.
